a sustainable departure
from a single-use office
We launched a new hub for a flexible way of working at the Daalsesingel 51 in Utrecht. DS51 offers dynamic office space, meeting rooms, a central coffee shop, a lunch facility, an iconic basement bar and, to top things off, a spectacular roof terrace. True to D/DOCK’s vision of the future office, all is designed with sustainability and blended use as guiding principles.
The ground floor functions as a dynamic hub where visitors can co-work, meet, concentrate and, of course, there is room for a Friday afternoon drink. The space is arranged as flexibly as possible. For instance, it might be a meeting room in the morning and host a large lecture in the afternoon, while doubling as an art exhibition. As such, it’s not just an office but an inspiring destination in itself, welcoming even the passer-by.
DS51, which recently received a BREEAM-NL “Excellent” certificate for its sustainability, has solar panels, a green roof and a façade made of 100% recyclable material. The large windows let in a lot of light and its ceilings are designed for an optimal indoor climate. The added greenery creates a nice environment where people feel at ease.
Sustainability isn’t just reflected in our choice of materials and plants, but also in the timelessness of the design. As a result, objects are replaced less quickly and thus we extend the life of the interior. For the furniture, we worked together with Furnify Design. For this project 90% of the furniture is re-used and gets a second life on the Daalsesingel, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of our interior design.
DS51 is located near Utrecht Central Station and easily accessible by public transport. The historic city centre of Utrecht is also within walking distance. Stop by for a cup of coffee or just take a look inside.
