Tiny houses in office buildings

The housing shortage is severe. Many debates ahead of the municipal elections focus on this issue. At the same time, partly due to hybrid working we see that entire floors in office buildings often remain vacant for long periods.

In Amsterdam alone half a million square meters of office space are currently available for rent – source Gemeente Amsterdam (Dutch).

It is a waste that this space remains unused while so many people are urgently looking for housing. Permanent transformation takes an average of seven years and we cannot wait that long. Moreover it is not always desirable to transform an entire office building and many real estate investors would first like to test what it is like to have people living in their office building.
