The VUmc Silence Room, designed by Creative Director Francesco Messori, is inspired by his childhood in Italy, sitting safely at the back of the church near the choir. This sense of protection is reflected in wooden niches that embrace the body like a second skin, paired with natural materials such as wood and stone — the latter crafted with innovative 3D-printing. Light plays a key role, with warm tones offering comfort and security. Classical archetypes from various religions create a welcoming space where patients and visitors can reflect, regardless of faith or background.
